Fresh Sorrel blossoms brewed into a tea makes one of our favorite Caribbean treats! One 12oz bag of fresh Sorrel makes approximately 3 quarts of tea. It's easy - Peel off the outer fleshy layer and discard the seed pod, boil for 3-5 minutes, let it all cool down & strain out the pulp. Add honey or sugar to taste, and you're ready to enjoy the beautiful deep red color and citrus like goodness of Sorrel tea! Some recipes of Sorrell tea suggest adding a combination of Lemon Zest, Lime, Sour Orange, Cinnamon, or fresh ginger slices, so experiment and see what suits you best!
Sorrel also has some pretty amazing health benefits:
- Lowers Blood Pressure.
- Supports Healthy Cholesterol and Triglycerides.
- Prevents Oxidative Stress.
- Shows Promise in Fighting Certain Cancers.
- Reduces Obesity and Related Risks
