Each ready to plant slip is a genetic clone of the mother plants that produced the sweetest, juiciest, large 4lb+ fruits. Just think of all the delicious pineapples from your garden next year! Some of these plants fruited in as little at 8months from planting slips out in our gardens.
If you've never planted a pineapple before, don't worry it's easy:
- Strip the lower 1/2 - 1" of leaves off the base of the slip. You'll see little roots or root buds forming there.
- Let the slip dry and heal over from the leaf stripping for 2 days somewhere in the shade.
-Plant out in the garden or in a pot but give each plant room to reach it's full size of approximately 4ft high and 3ft wide. (We planted more densely in rows with 16" spacing between plants in a Hugelkulture bed, and the plants loved it!)
